Privacy Policy

Budwalk is a dog-walking app made in Bali. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. Budwalk is run by Tomy Pandu (Situbondo, Indonesia). Questions: budwalk.app@gmail.com.

What we collect

  • Your account: email address and first name. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email from Google.
  • Your dogs: name, breed, birthday, sex, weight, photos, and anything you add to the health card (vaccines, parasite care, vet visits, photos of the vaccine book).
  • Your walks: the route (GPS points recorded only while a walk is running), distance, time, the area name (village level, e.g. "Canggu"), and the temperature at the time.
  • Badges: worked out from your walks. If you add a photo to a Pawtrol sticker, we store that photo.
  • Budwalk Tag: the tag linked to your dog, the WhatsApp number you choose to show on the tag page, and scans of the tag. When a finder taps “I found this dog”, we store the time, their optional message and, if they allow it, their location.
  • Notifications: if you turn them on, a technical address for your phone (push subscription) and the reminder dates we need to send them.
  • Waitlist: if you joined on budwalk.com, your email, optional dog name and walking area.

How we use it

  • To run the app: save your walks, show your stats, streaks and badges, and keep your health card.
  • To remind you about vaccines and parasite care, and to tell you when someone scans your dog’s tag.
  • To recognise Founding Members (people on the waitlist before launch, and accounts created during the open beta).
  • To keep Budwalk safe and working, and to fix problems.
  • We do not sell your data and we do not show ads based on it.

What others can see

  • Your walks, health card and photos are private to your account.
  • Things you share yourself (walk pictures, badge pictures to Stories) are public where you post them.
  • Anyone who scans your dog’s Budwalk Tag sees the dog page: name, breed, photo, note, rabies status, lost status and the contact buttons you turned on. You choose what is shown in the tag settings.

Services we use

  • Supabase: database, file storage and login. Vercel: hosting of the app and website. Google: sign-in with Google. An email service for login emails.
  • OpenStreetMap services (Nominatim, Photon by komoot, OpenFreeMap) and BigDataCloud: map tiles and area names. Your phone sends them the location of the map or the start of a walk, not your account details.
  • MET Norway: weather. Our server sends an approximate location, never your account.
  • Apple / Google push services: to deliver phone notifications.
  • Some of these services store data outside Indonesia. We only use them to run Budwalk.

How long we keep it

  • As long as you have an account. When you delete your account, your dogs, walks, health records, photos, tags and notification settings are deleted. Copies in backups disappear within about 30 days.
  • Waitlist emails are kept until launch communication is done, or until you ask us to remove them.

Your choices and rights

  • See and change your data in the app at any time.
  • Turn notifications and location off in your phone settings (walk tracking needs location while a walk runs).
  • Delete your account in the app: Profile → Delete account, or see budwalk.com/delete-account.
  • Ask for a copy of your data, a correction, or deletion by emailing budwalk.app@gmail.com. We reply within 14 days.
  • Under Indonesia’s Personal Data Protection Law (UU No. 27/2022) you can also withdraw consent and complain to the authorities.

Children

  • Budwalk is meant for people aged 18 and over, or younger people using it with a parent or guardian.

Changes

  • If we change this policy in an important way, we will tell you in the app before it applies. The date at the top shows the latest version.
